Act-Sing-LIV!
Saturday, July 6th, 2024, 12pm to 3pm at Owner's Lounge
Act-Sing-Disney! A free acting/singing/movement workshop series for beginners and experts alike. Ages 9 to adult. Do you love to act and sign? Do you love Disney musicals? Then this workshop is for you! During our nine sessions we will focus on bringing our favorite Disney song and character(s) to life by combining acting, movement, monologue (dialogue), and singing skills. We will explore the life of the character and how to bring truth specificity to both the song and the role, as expressed in the scene. We will also uncover and correct any distractive or unnecessary movement, posture, or behaviors that may take away from our performance. Class practice will include singing and critiquing our songs; working on monologues and dialogues; improving our movement, and possible scene work. Pre-recorded accompaniment of your desired song(s) will be required, and assistance with this will be provided. Ultimately, the song and accompanying monologue or short scene will be performed in an end-of-term class performance. Class will be open to both English and Spanish speaking students every Saturday in June and July. There will be two sessions: 12pm to 1:30pm for ages 9 to 15; with a second session from 1:45pm to 3pm, for ages 16 and up. Class will be held at the Long Island Village, Port Isabel, in the Owner's Lounge, with a final class performance on the LIV Recreation Hall stage. Instructor: Pete Smith (recommended reading: Adults: A Challenge For The Actor by Uta Hagen, Children: Acting Monologues and Scenes for Kids by Bo Kane).
