The Bridge is open to all traffic.
The Village seems to be in relatively good shape (nothing like after Dolly!) There was obviously some strong wind and a lot of rain but with the exception of missing skirting, a few shingles and some torn fascia, it looks pretty good!
The surge did come over a lot of sea wall and many homes got water into their lower levels. Residents with homes on canals would be wise to call a neighbor or friend and have them check for damage.
Of course there is debris (palm fronds, branches, some trash) covering the streets and yards but our hard working employees are taking care of that quickly.
Everyone seems to have power. Many, if not all, of the sea cottages are still without water due to the break in a 6” main. Just heard that Oyster and parts of Clam are without water as well. Armando said they hope to have it repaired by 3 this afternoon.
The common areas were very secure and weathered the storm well. The swimming pools were closed this morning but are expected to be opened this afternoon or evening.
Chicken dinner has been canceled for tonight. They were unable to order the necessary supplies.
There were no injuries reported however one couple, unaware of the bridge closing, were instructed to take “safe haven” in our events center for the duration of the hurricane. They were fine and able to return to their park model after the storm.
I will make note of any obvious damaged homes and list them on this evenings update. Please text, e-mail or call with specific concerns. We'll check them as soon as we can. Jennie: 719-564-2566 or jenniemcb@hotmail.com
